DYANA DAWOOD NAMED TO IRAQI WOMEN’S NATIONAL TEAM

Dawood to Miss Up to Five (5) Desert Dreams F.C. Matches in June/July To Participate in the Prestigious Asian Football Confederation’s Women’s Cup Qualifiers.

Peoria, AZ (June 3, 2025) — Desert Dreams F.C. — Arizona’s new Women’s Premier Soccer League team — announced today that midfielder Dyana Dawood has been invited by the Iraqi Women’s National Team to participate in its official team training camp starting this month. This is part of the Iraqi Football Federation’s preparation for the upcoming  Asian Football Confederation (A.F.C.) Women’s Cup qualifying rounds taking place next month in Malaysia with the goal of qualifying for the final round next summer to be held in Australia.

Dawood, who was born and spent the early years of her childhood in modern day Mosul, Iraq, has previously attended an Iraqi Women’s National Team camp but was unfortunately injured prior to being able to appear in an official match.   She hopes to make her international debut later this month in an official FIFA-sanctioned international friendly against Bahrain before the qualifying tournament matches take place in Malaysia.

Dawood, currently in the final stages of recovery from a slight injury, did not appear in Desert Dreams F.C.’s inaugural home opener last weekend.  She is scheduled to resume training this week at Peoria Sports Complex before departing next week for Iraq.

Dawood most recently played professionally in Romania and currently resides in Arizona full-time.
